Gyula Vági (Hungary)

Master organ builderFounder of Vági Organs,

Former Teacher at Franz Liszt Academy, Instrument Maker Faculty

Gyula Vági had been studying piano since he was a child. He graduated from the Secondary School of the Piarist Fathers in Budapest, while he took also organ lessons from István Baróti.

As an assistant organ builder he started his activities at the Aquincum Organ Factory in Budapest under his mentors support: Ferenc Orosz and László Gyöpös

In 1978 he became a member of a professional expert team (with István Baróti, Lajos Perlaki, János Farkas, János Szucsák) participating for more than 30 years in a long term project, while they has been performing restoration and extension on one of the biggest organ in Hungary at the basilica in Esztergom.

In the meanwhile (1980) he became a master organ builder. That time he often made trips and visited Europe's most remarkable organs, as well as some famous organ builder companies such as Rieger Kloss (Krnov, Czech Republic) or the Johannes Klais (Bonn, Germany).

From 1998 he is director of the Hungarian Instrument Makers Association, organ department.

In collaboration with above mentioned colleagues they were created a common company called Musette LLC.

After nine years partnership in 2000 he founded his own company: the Vagi Organ Builder LLC which until 2013 has been supported by the following of his family members:

From 2013 Gyula Vági continue his activity self- employment, in collaboration with his younger son, Tamás Vági organ builder.
